Using my account

 

My account allows you to access your library account details where you can:

  • confirm your personal details, including your email address - an accurate email address will enable you to receive overdue alerts, reservation notifications and membership expiry emails, and to reset your PIN if you need it.
  • see your current loans and any overdue loans
  • renew your loans (not applicable if they are more than 3 days overdue but you can contact the library to do this; Solihull Libraries do not charge fines)
  • view a history of your previous loans, reservations, bookings and requests
  • view the date your membership is due to expire - memberships last for 2 years and we will contact you if we have your email address to confirm your personal details and renew your membership
  • see what items you have reserved currently, if they are available to be picked up (you will normally be notified by staff) or see your current place in the reserve queue. You can also cancel them.
  • for any library events, book, see your current bookings and cancel if needed
  • view recommended titles for you
  • create new alert profiles and update your existing profiles
  • review, update and delete any ratings and comments you have created

You will need to login in order to access your personal account details. Once you have logged in, Spydus will remember your login details for the duration of your login session. If you want to place a reservation, booking or request you will not need to identify yourself to the system again. If you attempt to place a reservation, booking or request without being logged in, you will be prompted to enter your Borrower ID and password and this identification will last for the duration of the session.

To login:

  1. Open the Login menu in the Navigation panel.
  2. Enter your borrower ID (which is the barcode from your library card) and your password.
  3. Click the Login button.

If your login is successful, your account dashboard will be displayed. You can access your account details at any time during your login session. If you have been blocked from using the library you may be prevented from performing certain transactions such as placing reservations.

 

If you have forgotten your PIN/password and we have your email address on your account, we can send you an email containing a link to reset it.

Do the following to reset your PIN/password if you know your email address is in your record:

  1. Open the Login menu in the My Library panel and select Forgot Your Password?
  2. Follow the prompts on screen.

An email with a link for resetting your password will be sent to your registered email address. Please do check your spam folder if you don’t think the email has come through.

Please contact us on 247library@solihull.gov.uk or in the library if you think your email address is not in your record or don't have an email address.

You can add or amend email addresses in your record once logged in.

To protect your privacy, please ensure you logout when you have finished using the system. If you have left your session inactive for more than 20 minutes, the system will timeout your login session (you will be given 60 seconds notice).

To logout, select your name in the Navigation panel and select Logout. You will be returned to the Library Home Page.

 

The Personal details page allows you to view and update your current address and contact details. You can also change your library PIN/password using this facility.

Please add your email address to your record if it is not already there. You will need to reenter your PIN as extra confirmation.

With your email address included, you will get loan reminders before and after your loans are due, and also receive email notifications when your reservations are available.

Your membership expiry date is also shown, if we have your email address then we will email you a month before your membership expires to confirm your personal details and renew your membership.

You can opt out of marketing emails.

 

Your dashboard provides a detailed breakdown of your current account position. You can select any tile in the dashboard to view more detailed information. Once you have selected a tile, you will be able to perform actions such as renewing titles, or updating reservations.

You can renew an item up to a maximum 3 times unless:

 - The item has been reserved.
 
- The items are more than 3 days overdue.
 
- Card is due to expire before the return date.

When renewing please allow enough time before the item is due back in case it cannot be renewed.

To renew your loans:

  1. Login to My account and access the dashboard.
  2. Select the tile to display all Current loans.
  3. If you want to renew individual loans select by ticking the checkbox for each loan you would like to renew then click Renew Selections, under the Options menu.
  4. If you want to renew all your current loans, click Renew All, under the options menu.

The system will now process your selections. Your list of loans will be returned showing the result for each renewal in the status column. Some renewals may not be successful if they are reserved by other users. Please note the new due date for each loan.

 

This section displays a history of the following:

  • Previous loans
  • Previous reservations
  • Previous event bookings
  • Tags, ratings and reviews that you have placed on titles

    To cancel reservations and bookings:

    1. Login to My account and access the dashboard.
    2. Select the tile to display your current reservations or bookings.
    3. If you want to cancel individual reservations or bookings select by ticking the checkbox for each one you would like to cancel then click Cancel Selections, under the Options menu.
    4. If you want to cancel all your current reservations or bookings, click Cancel All.

    The system will now process your selections. Your list of reservations or bookings will be returned showing the result for each cancellation in the status column.
