Do you enjoy reading and talking about books? Our Readers Circle group could be for you. Each month we offer books by a specific author or around a chosen theme. We also chat about books we have read and offer recommendations.

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month from 10.15am-11.30am.

Join our friendly striders and stroller group for local walks in the surrounding area. The walks last about one hour and start from the library. Meet at 10.15am for a prompt start at 10.30am. Refreshments are served afterwards at the library. Everyone welcome.

The session is for families, led by families. Toys are provided.

Join the fourth session of our monthly writers' group at Dickens Heath Library, on Saturday 27 April at 10am.

On the last Saturday of each month, we will use our meet-up to focus on a particular writing skill and discuss it as a group. An optional task will then be set for our writers to share and receive feedback from each other (if requested).

The Writers' Room is intended for fiction writers (published, aspiring, or total beginners) of all genres, genders, and abilities to learn, share, and support each other.

Participation can be as active or passive as suits each individual writer.

Registration is required as spaces are limited. Please speak to a member of staff in Dickens Heath Library if you would like any further information.

In April, we'll be bringing the funny to the Shirley Library Reading Group and reading books that make us laugh.

From books written by comedians to characters who make us giggle, pick a book that makes you smile and join us to share your thoughts.

Not sure what to pick? Visit Shirley Library and ask staff for a suggestion. Members all read different books and share their thoughts about what they've read each month.

Solihull College and University Centre are offering a free Counselling course at Chelmsley Wood Library, every Monday morning from 9.30am-12.30pm.

This qualification is designed for anyone over 18 who uses, or would like to use, helping skills either at work or in a personal capacity. This course is for people who would like to find out about counselling skills. You will study the definition of counselling and developing self-awareness through skills practice. The course introduces approaches and offers opportunities to practice listening skills - empathy, reflecting, paraphrasing, summarising and focusing.
