The aim of the 'Solihull Remembers' project was to research and record information about the lives of local people who lost their lives as a result of the First World War. The project included those who were born in, lived in, worked in, studied in or belonged to local groups from places in the present Solihull Metropolitan Borough or in the former Solihull Rural District. Our intention was to find out biographical information, especially an individual's links to families within the local area, so that they became 'real' people rather than just names on a memorial. It was also hoped to discover if any names were missing from local war memorials. Blog posts summarising the information found about each person were published on the centenary of that individual's death, with the last-known local casualty dying as a result of war injuries in 1923.
