Six-part comedy series from the BBC following the lives of three couples in the fictional Norfolk town Thurnemouth. Joyce (Alison Steadman) and Alan (Philip Jackson) are adjusting to retirement but have different ideas about how to spend their time. John (Russ Abbot) and Maureen (Stephanie Beacham) remain adventurous despite their age but still have to look out for Maureen's elderly mother Joan (June Whitfield). Meanwhile, Carol (Paula Wilcox) and Trevor (James Smith) have been married almost 40 years yet struggle to take much notice of each other. Together the six friends face the ups and downs of life as they get closer to old age.
